An accounting science bachelor’s degree programme, commonly known as a Bcompt (Accounting Science), aims to give students a solid knowledge of accounting concepts, financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and related fields. It prepares students for careers in accounting, auditing, finance, and related fields. People who want to work for the government, non-governmental organisations, or for-profit businesses that offer public services should take this course.

Structure- The bachelor of accounting science programme is an NQF Level 7 Qualification with 360 credits.
Duration– This qualification is offered over a period of three years.
Curriculum– The primary purpose of the Bcompt qualification is to provide graduates with professional knowledge, specific skills and applied competence that provide for continued growth in the financial sector. The second purpose of the qualification is to provide South Africa and other countries with graduates in accounting and auditing. A further purpose of the qualification is to provide qualifiers with a base of further specialisation towards a professional career in accounting, auditing and/or related fields.
