Most entry-level business jobs require a bachelor’s degree. And even in those that don’t, professionals without a bachelor’s degree will have a harder time advancing in their careers (Hansen, 2022). A bachelor’s degree can lead to new opportunities, higher pay, and long-term job security.

The Bachelor of Business Administration is designed to prepare students for a variety of business and management careers.

What is business administration?

The study of how businesses operate, including essential functions such as management, marketing, finance, accounting, and human resources, is known as business administration (Dlabay et al, 2021). Students who want a formal qualification in business administration should look at studying a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree.

A BBA programme gives students a thorough understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of business administration. A good programme will ensure that you have the opportunity to apply and test what you learn in practice.

The BBA degree is a three-year NQF level 7 qualification. It gives learners an entry route to postgraduate studies – a stepping stone to an MBA and thereafter a doctorate – should they wish to pursue them.

Benefits of a BBA degree

Normally, when deciding what to study, the first question that pops up is: “What are the benefits of studying the qualification?”

A BBA degree confers several advantages. To begin with, it provides a solid foundation in various business areas, preparing students for a variety of business careers gained from the exposure to in-depth knowledge in diverse business areas. The qualification gives graduates a broad set of skills that can be applied in a wide range of industries and job roles. Their understanding and ability to apply concepts across core domains help them not only survive but to flourish in multiple professional domains.

Students are also exposed to learning how to comport themselves professionally in the business environment, enhancing their communication skills to prepare to address stakeholders at multiple levels.

Students in the Bachelor of Business Administration classes are from a variety of professional backgrounds, and find this useful in building networks to support their personal growth goals.

While there will be students fresh out of high school in your classes, you’ll find many are not – some are already running their own businesses, while most are employees who want a deeper understanding of particular business domains to support recent or prospective promotions. Some, inspired by their learning, start businesses during the course of their BBA studies.

Choosing your business school

The value of a BBA degree is significantly influenced by the quality of the institution where it is earned (Gupta, 2021). Regenesys Business School is one of the private business schools in South Africa that provides a strong curriculum and support system for undergraduate students pursuing business studies.

And while the ultimate value of your BBA depends on factors such as the quality of the institution, what you need to consider when choosing your qualification is how well it will serve your personal goals and interests, including the opportunities it can open up for you to gain experience, build your network and career path, and to pursue further education.
