Head of the School of Health (Gym Department)

Job Overview:

The Head of the School of Health (Gym Department) will be responsible for leading and managing the health and fitness programs within the business school. This role involves academic leadership, curriculum development, faculty management, and strategic partnerships to enhance the institution’s reputation in health, fitness, and wellness education. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in exercise science, health education, sports management, and academic leadership with a business-oriented mindset to integrate fitness and wellness into a professional learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Academic Management
  • Develop and oversee health, fitness, and wellness programs within the business school.
  • Ensure compliance with academic accreditation standards and industry best practices.
  • Lead curriculum development and program innovation in exercise science, gym management, and sports health.
  • Drive the integration of health and business principles within the school’s offerings.

Faculty & Student Engagement

  • Recruit, manage, and develop faculty members, trainers, and administrative staff.
  • Provide leadership in faculty development, mentorship, and research initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.
  • Support student success through career development, internships, and industry placements.

 

Industry Engagement & Partnerships

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with gyms, sports organizations, corporate wellness programs, and healthcare institutions.Collaborate with industry leaders to ensure programs align with emerging fitness and wellness trends.
  • Seek funding opportunities, sponsorships, and research grants.
  • Operational & Financial Management
  • Develop and manage budgets for the gym department and health programs.
  • Oversee facilities, equipment, and resources to ensure the smooth operation of gym and health programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance, making data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Master’s or PhD in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Health Management, or a related field.
  • Additional qualifications in Business Management, Leadership, or Education are an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in academia, fitness industry, or health education.
  • Proven track record in academic leadership, curriculum development, and faculty management.
  • Strong industry connections within sports, fitness, and health sectors.
  • Experience in budget management, program evaluation, and accreditation processes.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in digital fitness, corporate wellness, and gym management.
