Is the Bachelor of Accounting Science professionally accredited?

This accounting science degree is fully accredited by the Chartered Institute for Business Accountants (CIBA). It covers the required technical competencies, skills, and professional code of ethics adopted by the professional accounting body, and is fully aligned with global accounting and reporting best practice.

Students emerge from the programme with a full understanding of, and able to apply, international accounting standards (IFRS), international auditing (IAS) standards, various aspects of international taxation, and integrated reporting (IIRC) standards. This equips our graduates to practice their accounting skills internationally.

What is accounting science?

The Bachelor of Accounting Science encompasses four major themes: financial reporting, auditing, management accounting, and income tax. All modules are vertically and horizontally integrated.

Supporting subjects include commercial law, economics, and business management. Considering the accountant’s role in the fourth industrial revolution, special emphasis is placed in the curriculum on computer skills, with emphasis on accounting in a computerised environment.

Innovation in accounting science course development

The degree, offered online and facilitated by experienced professional accountants, is ideally suited for part-time students. The minimum time to completion of the degree is three years, but students are encouraged to complete their studies at their own pace, averaging four to five years.

Courses are designed in a modular format, which allows the student to structure studies according to their individual lifestyle.

Excellence in accounting science teaching and learning

Regenesys’ holistic approach to education aims to instil financial intelligence (FQ), emotional intelligence (EQ), and spiritual intelligence (SQ) in students, equipping them for a demanding career as professional accountant.

Financial intelligence focuses on technical skills such as proficiency in financial accounting and reporting. Emotional and spiritual intelligence hones the behaviour of the professional accountant, encompassing professional ethics, integrated thinking, self-awareness and self-management.

Professional ethics reasoning is a pervasive skill that equips students to apply ethical principles and values in addressing business issues, while integrated thinking develops graduates’ ability to “join the dots” – rationally linking underlying issues in problem-solving –  as well as to incorporate research and critical analysis in decision-making. Self-management skills are essential in building interpersonal relations.

Accounting science job opportunities

Regenesys School of Finance strives to provide innovative, future-focused courses relevant to industry so that its Bachelor of Accounting Science graduates are ready to step into financial leadership roles in a challenging, technologically advanced business world.

Topics such as environmental accounting and climate change reporting are among those covered in its Bachelor of Accounting Science programme, which subscribes to the quintuple bottom-line worldview.

Bachelor of Accounting Science graduates usually follow careers as accounting practitioners, or embark on a journey to become chief financial officers (CFOs) in public or private entities. Regardless of the career choice you make, as a professional accountant in an ever-changing business world you will have a major contribution to make.
